Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the international break, however will the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.
In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Football and Parenting Experiences
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.
"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football side," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' only away victory this season came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.
So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.
My son advised me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.
They have got lots of talent in their team but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.
The away side's display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.
But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's home record, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
