Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, finished in 17th position as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
