England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Availability
Tim Southee's last Test match for New Zealand was versus the English side in the final month of 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be during the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former New Zealand seamer is expected to be present for the first Test because of his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was announced, Southee said of his participation: "We're still working through the situation at the present time.
"We'll see the outcome over the coming days."
English bowling legend Broad had declared the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which begins on 21 November.
"In my view there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee said.
"Our focus is squarely on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the quality of [the English] team that's heading out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the whole cricket world is."
However, before the English team head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
