Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown Versus the Dodgers
The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their first championship series since 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.
"It's incredible for this squad, our city, the nation," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."
The veteran has now slugged 23 post-season home runs, ranking him third in history after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation other than Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.
Wilson commented "certainly that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he continued.
The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
