Both Deceased Students Identified in the Ivy League School Shooting as Authorities Persist in Search for Killer.

Two students who died in Saturday’s violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their shooter persisted following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also expressed sympathies online, remarking: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine other people were injured in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male detained in a raid at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a authority told the Associated Press.

Officers that entered the lodging seized a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was detained, according to reports.

Condition of the Injured

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was released from the hospital, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, police said on Sunday.

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she served her chapter and peers,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his relatives, loved ones, and peers and lament the passing of his bright future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the country's seventh most historic university with about thousands of bachelor's and three thousand graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 mass shootings reported in the US so far in the current year, according to statistics.
