In a surprising partnership that challenges conventional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Uncovered

According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying transformations resonate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret group.

The adventure focuses on "strange trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses

The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana alongside several objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Addition

This update also brings the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Crossovers

This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series previously included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
